Armchair BEA 2012: Networking

Whew, already day 3! We're halfway there! Today's topic is to highlight a real-life blogging experience and how that's shaped your book blogging life. For me, it would be my high school librarian.

Before high school, I was an avid reader. I still am of course, but I have less time for it. I was reading all the time! During the summer I'd check out stacks of books, only to have them finished within a week. My parents hated the back and forth trips :P Once I hit high school, I was determined to continue my love of reading. Up until this point, I hadn't read too many fantasy books. I'd read a few, but no high fantasy. The first day I checked out a few books that looked good, my librarian immediately asked me what genres I was interested in. When I told her fantasy, she introduced me to one of my current day favorite authors: Chris Wooding. It just so happened that the library carried two of his books, and I LOVED them. Poison became one of my favorite books ever! My librarian encouraged my love of reading through-out high school, but it became harder and harder to find time for pleasure reading. However, I still appreciate that attempt she made to make reading a bigger part of my life, because it fueled me into my future of book blogging!

How about you? Leave your post links below!

  1. My high school librarian was how I eventually got into blogging.

  2. I love librarian interactions - they make me feel so happy to hear about (and participate in). I used to visit my local library every week in the summer too :)

  3. I had a very similar experience with the library during summer vacations...not enough books!

Thank you for taking the time to comment! I read every comment on my blog and respond personally to each one. Feel free to share your blog link as well so I can comment and follow back! Have a great week!
